As a licensed TVI in Virginia, you will deliver personalized instruction, empower learners through specialized techniques, and ensure access to the full spectrum of the curriculum. Proficiency in teaching Braille is essential, as you’ll be helping students gain a vital skill for lifelong learning.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Active Virginia licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Demonstrated experience providing instruction to students with visual impairments.
  • Proficiency in teaching Braille to learners with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, staff, and families.
  • Flexibility for a part-time, three-day-a-week schedule.
  • Ability to thrive in an in-person setting, with possibility for virtual engagement if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in Braille and assistive technology.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Consult and support classroom teachers in adapting materials and instruction.
  • Conduct assessments to identify student needs and progress.
  • Advocate for the inclusion and accessibility of all students with visual impairments.
