Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment (or eligibility for certification)
- Previous experience working with school-aged students who are visually impaired
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility techniques
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptable and creative with lesson planning and accommodations
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess individual student needs and develop tailored learning plans
- Deliver direct instruction using adaptive tools and materials
- Support classroom teachers in modifying curriculum and activities
- Coordinate services and facilitate communication with parents, staff, and outside professionals
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expert recommendations
