Desired Qualifications:

  • Active teaching certification with a Visual Impairment endorsement or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience working with children and adolescents with visual impairments
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Familiarity with braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching strategies
  • Commitment to individualized instruction and student advocacy
  • Ability to adapt quickly and provide creative solutions in educational environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and adapt instructional materials for students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct specialized instruction and support in classrooms or small group settings
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure accommodations are implemented
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ vision-related educational needs
  • Consult with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to support student learning
  • Offer training and consultation on the use of assistive devices and accessibility tools
