Grades 6 - 8 Certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Norristown, Pennsylvania

In this contract opportunity, you’ll support learners from kindergarten through 12th grade, providing essential instruction and advocacy for students with visual impairments. This role offers 32.5 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:15 pm, allowing for a balanced routine during the academic year. You’ll work in a collaborative and supportive educational environment ensuring students receive individualized, high-quality instruction that promotes independence and achievement.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Pennsylvania Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification (Instructional I or II)
• Experience working with students in grades K–12 preferred
• Strong knowledge of Braille instruction, adaptive technology, and accommodations for visually impaired learners
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
• Flexibility in adapting to the varying needs of a diverse caseload
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible educational environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines
• Assess and document student progress, adjusting instruction based on individual needs
• Provide support and training to school staff on best practices for visually impaired students
• Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support
• Advocate for access to materials, technology, and resources necessary for student success
