Apply NowMake a difference in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for grades K–12. This contract opportunity runs from ASAP through June 3, 2025, supporting students in a dynamic school environment near Norristown, PA. You'll work closely with learners across elementary, middle, and high school levels, designing and implementing strategies that foster both access and independence throughout the academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current PA certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Instructional I or II)
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired in educational settings
- Comfortable teaching students from kindergarten through 12th grade, adapting instruction to varying developmental and academic needs
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with school staff, families, and related service providers
- Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments and advocating for student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction, adaptations, and braille as required to students in grades K–12
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Facilitate access to curriculum materials, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility support
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and effective communication with parents and team members
- Participate in IEP meetings, team planning, and professional development as needed
Schedule:
- 32.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:15 PM)
- Contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through June 3, 2025
