Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential with certification in visual impairment
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students preferred
- Proficient in braille, assistive technology, and alternative communication methods
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with staff, therapists, and families
- Ability to create inclusive lesson plans and modify curriculum as needed
- Compassionate, patient, and creative in problem-solving
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specialized instruction for students with visual impairments, based on individual education plans
- Assess student abilities and design strategies tailored to their unique learning styles
- Instruct students in braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of assistive technology
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessibility
- Monitor progress, document student growth, and maintain compliance with educational standards
- Engage families in goal setting, communication, and advocacy
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaborations
