We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to work as a teacher for the visually impaired, helping students thrive academically and socially. Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential with certification in visual impairment
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students preferred
  • Proficient in braille, assistive technology, and alternative communication methods
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with staff, therapists, and families
  • Ability to create inclusive lesson plans and modify curriculum as needed
  • Compassionate, patient, and creative in problem-solving

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver specialized instruction for students with visual impairments, based on individual education plans
  • Assess student abilities and design strategies tailored to their unique learning styles
  • Instruct students in braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of assistive technology
  • Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessibility
  • Monitor progress, document student growth, and maintain compliance with educational standards
  • Engage families in goal setting, communication, and advocacy
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaborations
