Qualifications and Experience:
- Current or eligible state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Comprehensive knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and instructional strategies for visually impaired students
- Previous experience working in a school or educational setting, preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt instruction as needed
- Willingness to stay updated on best practices and participate in ongoing professional development
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both individually and in group settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and educational teams to adapt curriculum and learning materials
- Assess student needs, track progress, and contribute to eligibility and IEP meetings
- Teach braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology as necessary
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding strategies and tools for supporting visually impaired learners
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district and legal requirements
