Become an essential resource in supporting students’ educational journeys as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a school-based setting near Oakwood, IL. This full-time, on-site contract role will run for the 2026-2027 school year and is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact with children with visual impairments. You’ll be working throughout the district in an itinerant capacity, traveling between schools to provide specialized instruction and advocacy.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification for teaching students with visual impairments.
  • Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology and accommodations for students with visual needs.
  • Ability to travel between multiple locations throughout the district.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Organizational skills to manage an itinerant caseload effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction for students with visual impairments across various school sites.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.
  • Conduct assessments to determine student needs and develop tailored educational plans (IEPs) to address those needs.
  • Provide recommendations and training on the use of adaptive devices and assistive technology.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and strategies as needed.
  • Advocate for student inclusion and access within the educational environment.
