Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification or endorsement to teach students with visual impairments
• Prior experience working in a school setting strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
• Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to individual student goals
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to adapt curriculum
• Train staff and students in the use of assistive technology and orientation/mobility techniques
• Provide support and instructional strategies to maximize students’ independence and participation
• Maintain accurate records and ongoing progress documentation
