Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification with a specialization in visual impairment
• Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
• Familiarity with the latest research and best practices for teaching students with visual impairments

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across multiple grade levels
• Assess students’ needs and abilities, recommending strategies and tools to enhance learning
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure program effectiveness
• Deliver instruction in Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology
• Support students’ social, vocational, and independent living skills development
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations for students with disabilities
