Essential Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credentials for Visually Impaired students (TVI)
- Proficiency in braille literacy and assistive technology for vision impairments
- Demonstrated experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments in an educational setting
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Flexibility in adapting to diverse student needs and supporting inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with visual impairments across various academic and functional areas
- Complete assessments to determine students’ abilities, educational needs, and necessary accommodations or modifications
- Develop and implement tailored instructional materials, incorporating braille and accessible technology
- Participate actively in IEP development, ensuring goals are relevant, ambitious, and aligned with best practices
- Train and consult with educational staff and families regarding effective strategies and accommodations
