Desired Skills and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience adapting curriculum and materials for students with visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and assistive technology
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred, but not required
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEP goals
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and related service providers
- Modify and adapt classroom materials, integrating tactile and auditory learning if appropriate
- Provide training on assistive devices and accessibility tools to staff and students
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school community
