As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, your expertise will transform educational experiences for students, fostering independence and tailored learning in accessible environments.
What we’re looking for:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, adaptive technology, and Braille
- Experience creating and implementing IEPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for advocating for students with visual impairments
- Previous experience in a school setting is preferred
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to adapt curriculum and classroom materials
- Assist students in developing compensatory skills, including orientation/mobility and assistive technology use
- Participate in assessments, IEP meetings, and provide progress updates to families and school staff
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
