Desired Skills and Experience:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience adapting curriculum and materials for students with visual impairments
• Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and assistive technology
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Previous experience in a school setting preferred, but not required

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEP goals
• Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and related service providers
• Modify and adapt classroom materials, integrating tactile and auditory learning if appropriate
• Provide training on assistive devices and accessibility tools to staff and students
• Advocate for students’ needs within the school community
