Embark on the next step of your career as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, providing critical support to students across diverse settings for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contracted position spans 35 hours per week, with the possibility of part-time flexibility, and covers the greater Chattanooga area. You'll work itinerantly between multiple schools (assignments to be finalized soon), engaging with K-12+ students in both general and special education environments.

Primary Qualifications:

  • Current DOE certification is required
  • Experience teaching visually impaired students across elementary, middle, and high school levels
  • Proficiency in Braille and use of assistive technologies; familiarity with the Federal Quota program is a bonus
  • Ability to support students in both general education and specialized/multiple disabilities classrooms
  • Familiarity with the TN Pulse IEP platform, including active participation in IEP meetings
  • Experience working with Chromebooks is preferred
  • Must be able to complete fingerprinting and credentialing processes in a timely manner

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel between geographically-assigned schools, focusing on clear communication and collaborative scheduling to minimize travel time
  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans based on students’ unique needs
  • Utilize Braille and assistive technology to facilitate access to curriculum content
  • Assess and monitor student progress, documenting outcomes and adapting instruction accordingly
  • Liaise with general and special education staff, and participate in IEP meetings to ensure comprehensive student support
  • Provide guidance and training to teachers and staff regarding adaptive tools and best practices
