Make a meaningful impact supporting students across K-12+ as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a vibrant educational community. This contract-based position offers a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week, with potential part-time opportunities, and covers the school year from August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027. You’ll work in an itinerant capacity, providing essential services to students in both general and special education environments—assignments are clustered geographically to minimize travel between schools.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid DOE certification required
  • Demonstrated experience teaching visually impaired students in school settings
  • Proficiency in Braille instruction and familiarity with assistive technologies (Federal Quota program knowledge is a plus)
  • Experience supporting a diverse range of needs: from general education to classrooms for students with multiple disabilities
  • Ability to travel between assigned school sites
  • Competence using the TN Pulse platform for IEP documentation and participation in IEP meetings
  • Comfort with Chromebooks and student technology integration
  • Must be able to complete timely fingerprinting for credentialing

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instructional and adaptive strategies for K-12+ students with visual impairments
  • Travel between multiple school sites to provide services according to an established schedule
  • Collaborate closely with general and special education teachers, participating in IEP meetings and updating plans as needed
  • Adapt lesson materials and recommend appropriate assistive technologies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Support student independence and engagement through individualized education plans
