Key Qualifications:
- Valid state license or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience in an educational environment, preferably working with visually impaired or blind students
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum development
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Passion for empowering students and advocating for equal access to educational opportunities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support services to students with visual impairments
- Assess student needs and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure an inclusive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes in compliance with school and state requirements
- Provide training and resources to staff on best practices in visual impairment education
- Utilize and recommend assistive technology and adapted materials to maximize student engagement and independence
