Key Qualifications:

• Valid state license or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience in an educational environment, preferably working with visually impaired or blind students
• Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum development
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
• Passion for empowering students and advocating for equal access to educational opportunities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction and support services to students with visual impairments
• Assess student needs and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure an inclusive learning environment
• Monitor student progress and document outcomes in compliance with school and state requirements
• Provide training and resources to staff on best practices in visual impairment education
• Utilize and recommend assistive technology and adapted materials to maximize student engagement and independence
