An exciting contract opportunity is available for an experienced professional specializing in education for the visually impaired. The position runs from September 8, 2026, through June 3, 2027, and offers consistent, part-time hours each week. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about supporting students with visual impairments, making a meaningful impact throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) teaching license, issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
- Prior experience working in a school setting as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired preferred
- Ability to provide both direct and indirect instructional minutes to students
- Familiarity with Braille instruction and adaptive technology is an asset
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with school staff and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect services to approximately 23 students with varying levels of visual impairment
- Support one student in learning Braille and assist others with their specific needs as required
- Maintain clear, organized records of services provided and student progress
- Participate in school meetings and consult with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support
- Collaborate with teachers and classroom staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
