A unique opportunity awaits a skilled Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) who is passionate about supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade. This contract position, located near Owings Mills, MD, begins on August 13, 2026, with a flexible weekly commitment of 35–40 hours. The role will serve a diverse caseload of approximately 20–25 students, with assignments spanning about 12 to 15 school locations—adaptability and organization are key!

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Maryland teacher certification with a TVI endorsement, or eligibility to obtain (support for out-of-state candidates to start the process via the Maryland State Department of Education TEACH Portal)
  • Experience working with visually impaired students across Pre-K to 12th grade is highly desired
  • Strong skills in providing specially designed instruction, assessments, IEP development, and direct services under IEPs
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities for collaboration with Braille Transcribers, general and special education teachers, and other TVIs
  • Strong organizational and consultation skills for balancing multi-site responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instructional services tailored to individual IEP goals for visually impaired students
  • Conduct evaluations, progress monitoring, and provide data-driven input for IEP development and implementation
  • Collaborate and consult with general and special education staff and related service providers
  • Offer direction, support, and partnership to Braille Transcribers
  • Support multiple age groups and adapt instructional strategies for various educational settings
  • Attend training sessions and ongoing professional development
