Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Owings Mills, MD

Make a lasting impact as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This full-time, contract-based role begins August 13, 2026 and extends through June 30, 2027, with the possibility for summer work and contract renewal for the following academic year based on fit. Caseload will range from approximately 20 to 25 students across various school sites, allowing you to see real growth in the students you serve.

Desired qualifications and experience:

• Maryland teacher certification or licensure with TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) endorsement, or willingness to begin the process via the Maryland State Department of Education TEACH Portal
• Experience in providing specially designed instruction to students with visual impairments
• Ability to develop and implement IEPs, conduct assessments, and deliver services as outlined in student plans
• Skilled at consultation and collaboration with general educators, special education staff, other TVIs, and Braille Transcribers
• Open to assisting out-of-state applicants with licensure requirements

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals
• Providing assessment, consultation, and ongoing collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Offering direction and support to Braille Transcribers
• Working in approximately 12-15 school settings within the week
• Maintaining thorough documentation of student progress and participating in IEP meetings

You’ll have access to a school-provided laptop and receive comprehensive training to support your success. Work schedules align with school hours (options include 7:30-3:00, 8:00-3:30, or 9:00-4:00, depending on assignment).
