Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Petersburg, Michigan

Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience working in school settings with students who are visually impaired
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials for accessibility
• Commitment to individualized student growth and advocacy
• Knowledge of assistive technologies for visual impairment is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Evaluate student progress and update educational goals as needed
• Provide direct and consultative support to students across various educational settings
• Recommend and facilitate the use of adaptive equipment and technology
• Support students’ independence and orientation and mobility skills
• Maintain detailed records and required documentation for compliance
