Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairments or as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Experience supporting students with vision loss in school environments
• Demonstrated knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and alternative communication methods
• Strong collaboration abilities with general education teachers, families, and support staff
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction for students with visual impairments, adapting curricula and materials as needed
• Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for instructional adjustments
• Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure accessible learning materials and a supportive environment
• Instruct students in the use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and daily living skills as appropriate
• Track student progress, maintain thorough records, and participate in IEP meetings and educational planning
• Offer guidance to families and staff regarding best practices for accommodating vision needs
