Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairments or as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Experience supporting students with vision loss in school environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and alternative communication methods
- Strong collaboration abilities with general education teachers, families, and support staff
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction for students with visual impairments, adapting curricula and materials as needed
- Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for instructional adjustments
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure accessible learning materials and a supportive environment
- Instruct students in the use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and daily living skills as appropriate
- Track student progress, maintain thorough records, and participate in IEP meetings and educational planning
- Offer guidance to families and staff regarding best practices for accommodating vision needs
