Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting their educational journey as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired! This contract position offers the chance to travel between several schools within the county, providing specialized support to school-aged students with visual impairments. With a full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week), you will play a key role in fostering independence and optimizing learning environments for your students.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active state certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with school-aged students who are visually impaired or blind
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adapted curriculum techniques
  • Comfortable traveling between different schools throughout the county
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver specialized instruction individually and in small groups tailored to each student's needs
  • Assess students’ visual functioning and recommend appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Consult with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to develop and implement strategies for academic success
  • Adapt classroom materials and develop individualized learning plans
  • Support students in developing orientation, mobility, and daily living skills
  • Document student progress and participate in IEP meetings
  • Stay current on best practices and new technologies designed for visually impaired students
