Apply NowStep into a rewarding contract opportunity guiding students with visual impairments across grades K–12. In this role, you'll work alongside educational teams to design and deliver accessible curriculum and individualized support to help students thrive academically and socially. This position begins as soon as possible and extends through June 3, 2025, with a steady weekday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., totaling 32.5 hours per week.
Preferred background and experience:
- Current certification in Pennsylvania as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Instructional I or II)
- Experience serving students with visual impairments across elementary, middle, and high school levels
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with educators, families, and specialists
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and methods to meet IEP goals
- Familiarity with assistive technology for visually impaired learners is a plus
Daily responsibilities include:
- Providing direct instruction and support to students K–12 with visual impairments
- Adapting learning materials and strategies to support student accessibility and independence
- Collaborating with general education teachers and related service providers
- Contributing to IEP development, progress monitoring, and team meetings
- Training staff and students in the use of assistive technology and orientation/mobility strategies
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines for visually impaired education
This contract position runs Monday through Friday with a consistent daytime schedule, offering the chance to see students progress over the full academic year. You'll play a vital role in fostering inclusive learning environments and making a meaningful impact in the lives of students with visual impairments.
