Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments in PreK-12 settings is highly valued
  • Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive tools
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent organizational skills and compassion for diverse learners

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, supporting both academic and functional life skills
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials using Braille, large print, and digital resources
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' strengths and needs
  • Participate in IEP meetings, goal-setting, and progress monitoring
  • Educate staff and families about strategies and tools effective for visually impaired students
  • Stay updated on best practices and latest technologies for accessibility
