Seeking a dedicated professional with expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and/or Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialist for a rewarding contract role in a vibrant educational setting. This position starts as soon as possible and is expected to continue through mid-December, with the potential to extend through the school year. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, following school hours.
In this role, you will support students across several buildings within a district. Assignments currently include serving three schools for TVI responsibilities and three for O&M services, though school assignments may shift as student needs evolve.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) and/or Orientation & Mobility (O&M) required
- Experience working with students in educational settings strongly recommended
- Ability to adapt to changing caseloads and building assignments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, working closely with educational teams and families
- Commitment to empowering visually impaired students to achieve academic and orientation milestones
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support for students with visual impairments
- Provide O&M training as appropriate, fostering independence and safety
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff to implement IEPs
- Travel between assigned schools as needed
- Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation
- Adapt materials and curriculum for accessibility
