Step into a vital role providing critical support for students as an itinerant Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Based near the Plano, TX area, this contract opportunity offers an engaging mix of challenge and reward as you travel between 10 campuses, working with a caseload of 25 remarkable students. Your week features a consistent 37.5-hour schedule with the convenience of your own office at the administrative annex for planning and collaboration.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Texas
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired and a proven record of adapting and developing accessible instructional materials
- Strong organizational skills to manage an itinerant schedule across multiple sites
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and track student progress
- Commitment to fostering independence and inclusion for visually impaired students in school environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative vision services to a diverse group of students across 10 campuses
- Develop and implement instructional strategies and accommodations in line with each student’s needs
- Partner with teachers, staff, and families to promote accessibility and equal participation within general education settings
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Maintain thorough records and provide input for ARD/IEP meetings
- Utilize your dedicated office for planning sessions, resource management, and collaborative meetings
