Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Florida, or eligibility to obtain
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and adaptive technology for visually impaired students
- Previous experience working with school-aged children in an educational setting
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to design and adapt instructional materials for diverse learning needs
- Commitment to inclusion, advocacy, and student empowerment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, supporting their access to the general curriculum
- Administer assessments to determine student needs and progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other service providers to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Develop lesson plans, materials, and strategies tailored to each student’s goals
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of assistive technology
- Offer guidance and resources to staff and families to promote accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports
