Desired Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Florida, or eligibility to obtain
• Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and adaptive technology for visually impaired students
• Previous experience working with school-aged children in an educational setting
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to design and adapt instructional materials for diverse learning needs
• Commitment to inclusion, advocacy, and student empowerment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, supporting their access to the general curriculum
• Administer assessments to determine student needs and progress
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other service providers to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Develop lesson plans, materials, and strategies tailored to each student’s goals
• Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of assistive technology
• Offer guidance and resources to staff and families to promote accessibility and inclusion
• Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports
