This part-time, contract position provides specialized expertise throughout an entire school district, supporting the growth and success of students who are blind or visually impaired, while empowering educational teams. With a flexible virtual model and an emphasis on capacity building at the start of the school year, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring access and consistency for learners across multiple sites.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Florida Educator Certification required
- Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments, including braille and assistive technology
- Familiarity with strategies for instructional access and working collaboratively with educators
- Strong communication and consulting skills with both school personnel and families
- Must be able to complete the fingerprinting process, with expedited credentialing for those previously cleared in Florida
Responsibilities:
- Consult with and provide direct support to school-based staff regarding student needs, instructional strategies, and accessibility
- Deliver training and resource development for braille instruction and assistive technology integration
- Guide staff working with students who have complex visual needs
- Support consistent implementation of best practices district-wide, supplementing existing TVI services
- Intensively support capacity-building at the school year's onset, with a gradual taper as staff confidence grows
