Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida teaching certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Extensive knowledge of adaptive technology and braille instruction
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, parents, and educational staff
  • Experience developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
  • Ability to travel between sites within the district if needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum and materials
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development and implementation
  • Train students in the use of assistive technology, mobility skills, and self-advocacy
  • Consult with teachers and staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion within general education settings
  • Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and needs
  • Participate in professional development and stay updated on best practices within the field
