Make a real difference supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school setting near Port Saint Lucie, FL. This full-time contract opportunity runs from October through early June, with a schedule of 35 hours each week serving K-12 students across five campuses. Key Qualifications:

  • Current Florida Department of Education Teacher for Visually Impaired (TVI) certification.
  • Experience teaching students with visual impairments, including proficiency in Braille instruction.
  • Confidence traveling between schools to meet students’ needs.
  • Ability to provide both direct instruction and consultative support.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate services for 12 direct students (totaling 690 service minutes/week), plus two consultations.
  • Completion of district fingerprinting, with the option to transfer prints from the AHCA Clearinghouse if available.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction and support for students with visual impairments in grades K-12 across multiple school sites.
  • Collaborate closely with educational teams, families, and community partners to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Utilize strategies, tactile materials, and adaptive technologies to support each student’s access to curriculum.
  • Maintain documentation and communication relating to service delivery and student progress.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for faculty and staff regarding best practices for students with visual impairments.
