What you bring:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments, ranging from mild to severe
- Strong understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adapted materials
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with general education staff, families, and specialists
- Organizational skills for managing caseloads and documentation
- Flexibility and creativity in teaching strategies
What you’ll do:
- Assess and address individual student needs through tailored instruction
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
- Support students in accessing the general curriculum and school environment
- Train students in orientation and mobility skills and adaptive devices as applicable
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to maximize student success
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and progress monitoring
- Stay updated with best practices and professional development for teaching the visually impaired
