Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
• Experience designing and modifying instructional materials for students with visual impairments.
• Solid understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility needs.
• Ability to assess student needs and create individualized educational plans (IEPs) aligned with district and state standards.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with students, families, teachers, and related service providers.
• Previous experience in a school setting is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across various educational environments.
• Develop and implement specialized instructional plans and modifications to ensure access to the general education curriculum.
• Assess visual functioning and recommend adaptive equipment or classroom accommodations.
• Collaborate with educational teams to support transition planning, technology integration, and student progress monitoring.
• Deliver instruction in Braille and the use of assistive devices as appropriate.
• Engage in ongoing communication with families and staff to ensure educational goals are being met.
