Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or equivalent credentials
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
  • Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional methods
  • Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families
  • Organized, self-motivated, and adaptable in various school settings

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments within school environments
  • Assess student needs and tailor educational strategies and materials accordingly
  • Utilize braille, low vision devices, and accessible technologies to facilitate student learning
  • Collaborate with school teams on the implementation of IEPs and accommodations
  • Deliver guidance and training to staff and families to foster understanding and support
  • Monitor progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed
