This full-time contract opportunity runs through the 2026-2027 academic year and involves working with elementary, middle, and high school students in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide tailored instruction for students with visual impairments in accordance with district standards and individual education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor and support student achievement
- Prepare materials, adapt curriculum content, and utilize assistive technologies to enhance learning accessibility
- Collaborate with general education teachers, sign language interpreters, and support staff to create inclusive classroom experiences
- Attend and contribute to Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, offering expert input on student progress and appropriate strategies
- Maintain comprehensive records and communicate regularly with families and education professionals
- Employ evidence-based methodologies for teaching visually impaired students and continually refine instructional approaches
Desired qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with children who have visual impairments, preferably across multiple grade levels
- Comfort with sign language interpreting or experience collaborating with sign language interpreters
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
- Commitment to fostering an equitable and engaging educational environment
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines in a school setting
