This full-time contract opportunity runs through the 2026-2027 academic year and involves working with elementary, middle, and high school students in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored instruction for students with visual impairments in accordance with district standards and individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor and support student achievement
  • Prepare materials, adapt curriculum content, and utilize assistive technologies to enhance learning accessibility
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, sign language interpreters, and support staff to create inclusive classroom experiences
  • Attend and contribute to Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, offering expert input on student progress and appropriate strategies
  • Maintain comprehensive records and communicate regularly with families and education professionals
  • Employ evidence-based methodologies for teaching visually impaired students and continually refine instructional approaches

Desired qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience working with children who have visual impairments, preferably across multiple grade levels
  • Comfort with sign language interpreting or experience collaborating with sign language interpreters
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
  • Commitment to fostering an equitable and engaging educational environment
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines in a school setting
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
