Teacher of Visually Impaired - Renton, WA

As a contract Visually Impaired Teacher and Braillist, you'll play a vital role in delivering specialized instruction to empower students to reach their fullest potential. Desired qualifications and experience:

• Hold appropriate certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
• Proficient in Braille transcription, with experience as a Braillist.
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for students with visual impairments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, students, and caregivers.
• Ability to adapt instructional strategies to diverse learner needs and environments.
• Previous experience in a school setting preferred.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are visually impaired, in alignment with IEP goals.
• Prepare, adapt, and transcribe classroom materials into accessible formats such as Braille, large print, or audio.
• Provide ongoing assessment and feedback on student progress, adjusting instructional plans as needed.
• Consult with classroom teachers and staff to recommend and implement strategies for accessibility.
• Support training for school personnel and families on working with students with visual impairments.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all educational and legal requirements.
