Essential Qualifications:
- Valid state teaching certification with Visually Impaired endorsement
- Experience creating and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments
- Proficient in Braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
- Knowledge of adaptive materials and techniques for diverse learning environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in supporting a range of student abilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional vision and needs to develop individualized educational plans
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional services across various grade levels
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to integrate accommodations
- Provide training and support in the use of Braille, low vision aids, and specialized technology
- Monitor progress and adjust interventions to ensure students’ access and success
- Advocate for students’ needs in academic and community settings
