Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid state teaching certification with Visually Impaired endorsement
  • Experience creating and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments
  • Proficient in Braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Knowledge of adaptive materials and techniques for diverse learning environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Compassion, patience, and adaptability in supporting a range of student abilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ functional vision and needs to develop individualized educational plans
  • Deliver direct and consultative instructional services across various grade levels
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to integrate accommodations
  • Provide training and support in the use of Braille, low vision aids, and specialized technology
  • Monitor progress and adjust interventions to ensure students’ access and success
  • Advocate for students’ needs in academic and community settings
