Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain credential
• Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision, preferably in a school setting
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
• Ability to develop and modify Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on student needs
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Passion for advocacy and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across grade levels
• Assess functional vision and learning needs; recommend accommodations and modifications
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt curriculum and materials
• Conduct and participate in IEP meetings, maintaining thorough documentation and progress reports
• Train staff and family members in the use of specialized equipment and technology
• Stay updated on best practices and resources to enhance student independence and inclusion
