Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with Visual Impairment endorsement
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technologies, and adaptive materials
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to travel between school locations if required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction based on students’ needs and IEP goals
- Adapt curriculum materials and provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify classroom environments and activities for accessibility
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Serve as a resource to families, faculty, and support staff regarding students’ needs and effective strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation on student progress and services provided
