Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching credentials specific to education for the visually impaired
• Experience working with K-12 students with various visual impairments
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and other adaptive tools
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, and families
• Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to accommodate individual student needs
• Commitment to promoting an inclusive and accessible learning environment

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments based on individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school professionals to modify curricula and develop accessible learning materials
• Train and educate staff and families on strategies and tools to support visually impaired students
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches as needed
• Advocate for student access to resources and participate in IEP meetings
