Key Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
- Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment for visually impaired learners
- Experience in tailoring educational plans for students with visual impairments
- Strong skills in assessment and individualized instruction
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, therapists, and families
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Previous school-based experience preferred
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and adapt curriculum materials for students with visual impairments, ranging from mild to severe
- Conduct assessments to determine student needs and progress
- Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive devices
- Collaborate with IEP teams to develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans
- Consult with teachers and staff to create accessible learning environments
- Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and instructional strategies
- Participate actively in professional development and ongoing training
