Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Visually Impaired Teacher on a contract assignment in the Sacramento, CA area. Collaborate with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure students with visual impairments receive the individualized instruction and accommodations they need to thrive academically and socially.

What you bring:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience supporting blind/visually impaired students in school settings
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Organizational skills to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Comfort delivering both direct and consultative services
  • Flexibility and commitment to student inclusion and equity

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting strategies for diverse learning needs
  • Conducting assessments and contributing to IEP development and progress monitoring
  • Training staff, peers, and families in the use of assistive technology and accessibility tools
  • Collaborating with general educators, therapists, and administrators to foster an inclusive learning environment
  • Traveling between school sites in the area as needed
  • Keeping thorough documentation and staying current with best practices in visual impairment education
