Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in California
- Experience working with children who have vision impairments, including those with multiple disabilities
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, tactile graphics, and accessibility tools
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with families, school personnel, and students
- Organizational skills and flexibility to adapt to a variety of school environments
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across multiple grade levels
- Assess students’ educational needs and functional vision
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt curriculum and provide accessible learning materials
- Teach Braille, use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and other compensatory skills
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and evaluations
- Maintain accurate records and progress documentation
- Partner closely with families and staff to ensure students achieve educational goals
