Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in California
  • Experience working with children who have vision impairments, including those with multiple disabilities
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, tactile graphics, and accessibility tools
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with families, school personnel, and students
  • Organizational skills and flexibility to adapt to a variety of school environments
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across multiple grade levels
  • Assess students’ educational needs and functional vision
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt curriculum and provide accessible learning materials
  • Teach Braille, use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and other compensatory skills
  • Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and evaluations
  • Maintain accurate records and progress documentation
  • Partner closely with families and staff to ensure students achieve educational goals
