Key Qualifications:

  • State of Florida certification or eligibility as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of visual impairment.
  • Strong skills in adapting curriculum and instructional materials to meet individualized needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
  • Passion for promoting inclusive learning environments and fostering student confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments across various grade levels.
  • Develop and implement customized learning plans, including accommodations and modifications as outlined in students’ IEPs.
  • Teach compensatory skills, such as Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and the use of assistive technologies.
  • Facilitate accessibility of instructional materials and environment, advocating for student needs within the school community.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of student progress, collaborate on IEP teams, and participate in professional development.
