Key Qualifications:
- State of Florida certification or eligibility as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of visual impairment.
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum and instructional materials to meet individualized needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
- Passion for promoting inclusive learning environments and fostering student confidence.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments across various grade levels.
- Develop and implement customized learning plans, including accommodations and modifications as outlined in students’ IEPs.
- Teach compensatory skills, such as Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and the use of assistive technologies.
- Facilitate accessibility of instructional materials and environment, advocating for student needs within the school community.
- Maintain thorough documentation of student progress, collaborate on IEP teams, and participate in professional development.
