Desired Qualifications

  • Valid Special Education Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) teaching license issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB).
  • Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired preferred.
  • Ability to provide direct and indirect instructional minutes with flexibility and sensitivity.
  • Expertise or comfort in teaching Braille (at least one student on the roster).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct services and support to approximately 23 students, adapting approaches based on individualized needs.
  • Provide instructional minutes (approximately 20 hours per week) without case management responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with school staff to implement best practices for students’ academic and social success.
  • Develop unique learning strategies and accommodations, including for students beginning Braille.
