This full-time contract position offers the chance to work closely with students in need of specialized instruction and accommodations, maximizing their participation and success in the classroom. You’ll play a key role in developing individualized learning strategies, collaborating with faculty, and advocating for each student’s needs.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Eligibility to work in Florida with appropriate state credentialing
  • Experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments in educational settings
  • Strong understanding of Braille, accessible educational technology, and adaptive devices
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, families, and educators
  • Ability to assess, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver instruction tailored to each student’s visual needs and learning goals
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials using Braille, large print, or other accessible formats
  • Conduct assessments and track student progress toward IEP goals
  • Liaise with teachers and support staff to ensure classroom inclusion and access
  • Provide consultation and training for staff on best practices and assistive technology
  • Empower families with resources and information to support learning outside school
