A full-semester contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized educational services for K-12 students in a Saint Paul, MN school. This role is ideal for professionals skilled in supporting visually impaired learners through individualized instruction and adaptive techniques.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing and identifying the educational needs of visually impaired students
- Developing and implementing tailored instructional plans aligned with students’ unique learning goals
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, service providers, and families to support student success
- Providing direct instruction in areas such as Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technologies
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting strategies as needed
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of services provided
Preferred qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent credential
- Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive learning materials
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to design individualized educational programs (IEPs) specific to visual impairments
