Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with vision disabilities, including those with additional behavioral or physical challenges
- Familiarity with adaptive technology, braille instruction, and various accessibility tools
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to serve a diverse team, including specialists, educators, and families
- Ability to organize a caseload of approximately 25-30 students across 2-3 buildings
- Flexibility to adapt instructional strategies to meet varied educational and behavioral needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultative support for students with visual impairments, ensuring access to curriculum and fostering life skills
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
- Facilitate communication with parents and interdisciplinary teams
- Travel across education centers within the district as needed to provide comprehensive coverage
- Maintain all necessary documentation and ensure compliance with district and state requirements
