Support students in reaching their full potential as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic educational setting near Salinas, CA. This is a full-time, in-person contract opportunity covering the entire school year. You’ll play a crucial role in helping visually impaired students access curriculum, develop independence, and thrive academically.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with a credential in Visual Impairment (VI) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, tactile graphics, and adaptive instructional materials
  • Previous experience working directly with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school environment
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Compassion, adaptability, and a strong commitment to fostering student growth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, daily living skills, and academic content to visually impaired students
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Recommend and facilitate the use of assistive technology and adaptive devices
  • Track student progress, document services, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Educate staff and families regarding strategies for supporting students with visual impairments
  • Advocate for student inclusion and success across all school settings
