Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid state licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
  • Proficiency in teaching Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and adaptive techniques
  • Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to travel to multiple school locations if needed

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ visual functioning and unique learning needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized instructional plans
  • Collaborate closely with general and special education teams to ensure accessible curriculum
  • Teach Braille, assistive technology, and other adaptive strategies
  • Provide ongoing support, training, and resources to educators and family members
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
