Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Two contract openings are available in the San Antonio, TX area, where you’ll work alongside dedicated educational professionals to provide invaluable services for students with visual impairments.

Your work will span a variety of impactful areas, balancing direct instructional time with vital consultative and evaluation duties. Candidates should bring experience collaborating within the school setting and a passion for empowering learners with unique needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver direct services and instructional hours to students with visual impairments
  • Offer indirect services including consultation with staff, teachers, and families, as well as preparation of accessible materials
  • Conduct key evaluations such as Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE), Learning Media Assessments (LMA), and, as needed, Orientation & Mobility (O&M) assessments
  • Attend and provide expertise during ARD meetings to help shape successful educational plans
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure comprehensive support

Desired Background:

  • Certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with children or young adults in educational environments
  • Knowledge of evaluation processes relevant to visually impaired populations
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to prepare, adapt, and modify educational materials and assessments
