Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching credential with an endorsement in Visual Impairment (VI), or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience working with students who are visually impaired, including proficiency with Braille, assistive technology, and specialized instructional strategies
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, their families, and multidisciplinary educational teams
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on each student’s unique needs
• Flexibility and resourcefulness in adapting materials and methods to support diverse learning environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess the visual needs of students and provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to modify curriculum and classroom activities
• Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring accessibility and fostering independence within the school setting
• Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding progress, challenges, and strategies for home support
• Keep current with best practices and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skill sets
