TVI - San Jose, CA

Make a meaningful difference by supporting K-12 students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a contract position close to San Jose, CA. You’ll work on a full-time schedule, dedicating 37.5 hours each week throughout the school year. In this impactful role, you’ll work collaboratively with school teams, students, and families to create accessible learning environments and promote student success.

What You’ll Do:

• Deliver specialized instruction and support services to K-12 students with visual impairments
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to adapt classroom materials, technology, and teaching strategies
• Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and learning needs
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ goals
• Provide orientation and mobility training and assistive technology recommendations
• Consult with families, school staff, and related service providers to facilitate inclusion and progress
• Stay current with best practices, compliance requirements, and assistive technology advancements

Desired Background:

• Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Visual Impairment, Special Education, or related field
• Experience with K-12 students in school settings preferred
• Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and inclusive teaching strategies
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning styles and accessibility needs

This position offers competitive hourly compensation ranging from $50 to $60 per hour, reflecting your specialized expertise and experience.
