Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision, preferably in a school setting
- Knowledge of braille instruction, assistive technology, and other accessibility tools
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials for accessibility
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ unique needs and monitor progress
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and administration for effective student support
- Advocate for student accommodations and access to appropriate resources
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal setting
- Offer training and consultative support to school staff as needed
