Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with a Visual Impairment endorsement or credential
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, across a range of ages and abilities
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive strategies
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Skilled in collaborating with families, general education teachers, and related service providers
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ individual needs and tailor instruction for varied learning environments
- Provide direct services and consultative support to students, teachers, and staff
- Coordinate and adapt curriculum materials to be accessible in multiple formats
- Lead or participate in IEP meetings, maintaining accurate records and progress reports
- Guide classroom teachers on best practices and promote awareness of visual impairments
- Champion student independence and advocate for appropriate accommodations in school settings
