Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification with a Visual Impairment endorsement or credential
• Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, across a range of ages and abilities
• Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive strategies
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Skilled in collaborating with families, general education teachers, and related service providers
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

Role Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ individual needs and tailor instruction for varied learning environments
• Provide direct services and consultative support to students, teachers, and staff
• Coordinate and adapt curriculum materials to be accessible in multiple formats
• Lead or participate in IEP meetings, maintaining accurate records and progress reports
• Guide classroom teachers on best practices and promote awareness of visual impairments
• Champion student independence and advocate for appropriate accommodations in school settings
