Desired Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for visually impaired students
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Strong ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, therapists, and families
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to supporting students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ educational needs and develop tailored instructional plans
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are blind or have low vision
- Adapt curriculum and materials into accessible formats
- Integrate assistive technology and teach its use in the classroom setting
- Support classroom teachers and staff through consultation and training
- Advocate for accessible educational opportunities and accommodations
- Monitor and document student progress, collaborating with IEP teams
