This contract role offers the opportunity to work across a collaborative cluster of campuses, fostering inclusivity and independence for K–8 learners with visual impairments. The assignment spans the 2026–2027 academic year, running from August 10, 2026 through May 25, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week.
The position is itinerant, with most days involving service at two schools within a designated cluster and occasional coverage for a third. The caseload comprises 12 students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade, offering variety and meaningful impact. Specific student assignments will be matched to your experience and availability to create the best fit for both you and the learners.
Key qualifications:
- Valid Educator Certification with Vision Endorsement
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or with visually impaired students in a school setting
- Familiarity with K–8 curriculum, accommodations, and adaptive technologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with families, staff, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Commitment to fostering independence and academic progress for students with visual disabilities
- Ability to travel between schools within the assigned cluster
- Successful completion of district background check, fingerprinting, and onboarding forms (time-sensitive)
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to visually impaired students in general and special education settings
- Adapt curriculum materials and employ specialized instructional strategies
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to implement student accommodations
- Develop and track individualized education plans (IEPs) and progress reports
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students and families
