Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Hold an active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or relevant certification
- Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
- Strong instructional skills and ability to adapt the curriculum for students with varying visual needs
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to students' unique goals
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to 20–23 students with visual impairments using specialized materials and techniques
- Assess student needs and progress, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize learning outcomes
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to ensure accessibility and implement accommodations for students
- Support students in developing self-advocacy and life skills
- Maintain accurate records and compliance with state and federal regulations
This is an onsite-only position, offering the fulfillment of hands-on teaching and direct student support. The contract is for 37.5 hours per week, ensuring you have consistent hours during the school year.
