A rewarding opportunity awaits educators skilled in supporting students with visual impairments. This contract position calls for a dedicated professional with experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), ideally with dual credentials or certification as both a TVI and an Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist. Your expertise will make a tangible difference for students and help facilitate their success in both academic and functional life skills.

We are also interested in connecting with qualified Braille transcribers who can assist in making curriculum accessible and responsive to student needs.

Your background should include:

  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired; dual certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist highly valued
  • Experience teaching students with visual impairments in K–12 educational settings
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in developing and adapting instructional materials, including Braille and tactile graphics
  • For Braille transcribers: formal certification or demonstrable experience in Braille transcription

Key responsibilities:

  • Support students with visual impairments in mainstream and resource settings
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum materials and provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and related skills
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
  • If dually certified: provide mobility training and travel skills instruction as needed
  • For Braille transcribers: produce accessible materials in Braille and tactile formats for academic use
