Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or demonstrated experience in the field
• Strong familiarity with Braille and braille teaching tools; Brailler candidates should have proven transcription skills
• Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, especially in educational settings
• Ability to create individualized learning plans and adapt curriculum materials
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with classroom teachers and support staff
• Commitment to fostering independence and promoting inclusion for all students

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in all areas of the expanded core curriculum to students with visual impairments
• Assess students’ strengths, needs, and learning styles to inform adapted teaching strategies
• Develop and transcribe accessible materials using Braille and tactile graphics as needed
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive comprehensive support
• Offer guidance and consultation to staff and families on best practices for visually impaired learners
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
